Philanthropic Planning
Support to Define and Execute Your Plan for Impact

This highly interactive coaching and consulting service provides individuals, couples, and families initiating major planned giving decision with a “map” to strategic philanthropy. Planning and administration of a charitable gift is a complex process involving philanthropic, personal, financial, and tax considerations. Pathmaker services focus on the values and strategic decisions that serve as a foundation for the donor’s financial decisions and the ability to communicate those decisions to advisors. True philanthropic planning embraces the growing convergence between financial services and the desire to participate in philanthropy from a place of personal giving “from the inside out”

We help you focus your goals for giving and take action to create your desired impact.

Individuals, couples, and families initiating a major planned giving decision find themselves unprepared with the most essential ingredient-communication. Although they know that they have a strong desire to make a difference and give back, they have difficulty communicating their wishes to the financial, legal and foundation professionals who are assisting them in creating their charitable vehicle.

Many of the best legal and financial advisors address “giving” solely from their area of strength...money, finances and law. True philanthropic planning must embrace the growing convergence between financial giving structures and personal values, concerns and philanthropic participation options.

A family's internal communication that builds trust and consensus on the mission of the family's wealth or it’s chosen philanthropic direction is also essential. In families and amongst heirs it can be complicated and emotional to formulate a plan that reflects and honors the all parties. Donors need to use their values as a guide to giving that enhances the well-being of the family as well as provide strategically placed resources to causes, projects, programs, organizations, and foundations where they can have a meaningful impact.

What you can expect:

  • Values-based private conversations that will clarify the impact you desire to impart through your philanthropic decisions and the role you wish to play using the time and resources you already have.

  • Language and tools for use in your conversations with family members, legal and financial advisors, foundations and non-profit partners that provide a clear goal and parameters for directing your charitable investments.

  • Next step actions for you to move forward to implement your philanthropic strategy.

  • Assistance with issues and concerns that emerge as you implement your plan.

  • Opportunity to further develop your philanthropic goals and strategies as your life circumstances and philanthropic focus evolve.

Developing your initial plan is typically accomplished in two to four sessions. Once you move into executing your plan, periodic meetings will be scheduled to review your progress and address issues and concerns that emerge as you move forward in new philanthropic territory.   Fees charged will vary depending on the level of support received. My approach is carried out with thoughtful questions and deep listening to capture the underlying importance of your philanthropic interests and intended results.

There’s no need to continue feeling overwhelmed by the thousands of giving opportunities and organizations out there. The Philanthropic Planning program guides you to discover where and how you can have your desired impact. Email Mary and we'll take the next step together.
